SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. It's a tactic used to analise and audit the site to become ranked on search engines. Google and other search engines 'crawl' websites to find content relating to a subject. One of the basic criteria is to ensure the website is assessable, works and is legible. Once it has passed that, then it looks at the keywords within the webiste and assigns it a rank. SEO is the process to improve that rank.
In truth, this depends on the competition against the chosen keywords. If the competition is low, you will see results in a matter of days to weeks. If against high competition keywords and sites, then it can take longer, you will be given access to a monthly dashboard that shows month on month improvement.
